Department Overview

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year of 2010. The UG-B.Tech programme was started with an intake of 60 seats in 2010; increased to 120 seats in 2012 and reduced to 90 seats in 2022.

The PG-M.Tech. programme with Machine Design specialization was started in 2013 with an intake of 18 seats. The PG-M.Tech. programme in Thermal Engineering was introduced in place of Machine Design in 2021 with an intake of 18 seats and reduced to 6 seats in 2022.
•The department was accredited by the NBA under Tier-I status for three academic years (2025–26, 2026–27, and 2027–28).
• The Department of Mechanical Engineering was accredited by NBA in 2018 for 3 academic years (2018-19, 2019-20 & 2020-21) and extended for one more academic year (2021-22). The accreditation was renewed in 2023 for 3 more academic years (2022-23, 2023-24 & 2024-25).
• The department was recognized as a Research Center by JNTUK, Kakinada, from 2018 onwards.
• A highly qualified faculty team is maintained, with 45% of the members holding doctoral degrees, along with strong faculty retention.
• Around 80% of the students from the 2022–26 batch have been placed in various core companies with attractive salary packages.

The department is supported by experienced faculty and well-equipped laboratories. More emphasis is given on innovative teaching and strong core training across major mechanical engineering domains, along with advanced software skills like SOLIDWORKS, FEMAP, CATIA, MATLAB, CUTVIEWER MILL & TURN, AUTOCAD etc. The significant achievements of the department are reflected in quality research publications and quality placements in various companies. The Student Association Fabulous Association of Mechanical Engineers (FAME), Engineering College Students Chapter of Institution of Engineers (India) contribute actively to enhance industry readiness of students.
